FEAST SETS TABLE, SAMPLE THE FULL MENU

Tickets available for tasty bites, spirited education

COURTESY: FEAST PORTLAND - Feast Portland, the city's annual food and drink festival, turns five this year, showcasing dozens of chefs, brewers, winemakers and artisans from here and across the U.S.It’ll be an epic weekend of food and drink, Sept. 15-18, as Feast Portland takes over the city. Just a handful of events still have tickets available, so get ‘em while they’re hot.

Here’s what’s still available:

• “Drink Tank: Meet the Press” is all about how local cider makers are embracing tradition and heritage fruits and using various brewing methods to devise dynamic, elegant beverages.

Portland cider makers Jeff Alworth, of Cider Made Simple, and Nat West, of Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider, will be part of the panel lineup, along with the cider makers from E.Z. Orchards Cidre in Salem and Tieton Cider Works in Seattle.

It’s set for noon-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Portland Art Museum ($35 per ticket).

COURTESY: FEAST PORTLAND - Find tickets to the last five Feast Portland available events at feastportland.com. • “Drink Tank: Washington Wines on the Rise” tells what’s unique about wines made by our neighbors up north, from spicy Grenache and floral Cabernet Franc to cool climate sparklers and rieslings.

They’ll talk about how winemakers are exploring new varieties, growing grapes in emerging viticultural regions and experimenting with winemaking techniques.

The panel includes Tony Rynders of Tendril Wine Cellars in Carlton, as well as winemakers from Walla Walla, Washington, Seattle and Boulder, Colorado, 2-3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Portland Art Museum ($55 per ticket).

• “Drink Tank: Aperitifs Ascendant: Understanding Vermouth, Quinquinas and Aperitif Wines” is about the rise of vermouth and other Old World spirits. Find out what bottles to look for and get a taste of some of the most interesting styles. Local panelists include Kate Bolton of Maven in Portland, Paul Clarke of Imbibe in Portland, Ryan Magarian of Hamlet in Portland and Neil Kopplin of Imbue Cellars in Beaverton. It’ll be 4-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Portland Art Museum ($45 per ticket).

• “Drink Tank: Wine vs. Beer: This Time It’s Personal” is about the art of beer and wine pairing. Blogger Marissa Ross will talk about wine and Christian DeBenedetti — founder of Wolves & People Farmhouse Brewery in Newberg — will talk about beer. Both wine and beer will be paired with cheese by Portland cheesemonger Steve Jones. It’ll be 4-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Portland Art Museum ($45 per ticket).

• “Friday Grand Tasting” is Feast’s largest tasting event, with more than 80 vendors showcasing the latest in America’s food culture — from artisan cheese to beer, berry pies to pickles, wine, cider and more. The details: 1-5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Pioneer Courthouse Square, $60 per ticket.
