Oregon Childrens Theatre received a four-year $300,000 grant from the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation, which gave awards to 39 arts organizations in the state. For OCT, its operating support; the premier childrens theater group envisions creating more social change through education.
At the core of our vision is the goal of removing obstacles that block or limit access to the arts for too many children and families, says Stan Foote, OCT artistic director.

The Great Northwest
Portland filmmaker Matt McCormick made a film inspired by a 3,200-mile road trip made in 1958 by four Seattle women, who recorded their journey in a scrapbook of photos, postcards, brochures and receipts. McCormick found the scrapbook in a thirft store and recreated the experience, comparing the then and now. Its being presented as part of the Northwest Film Centers Friday Film Club, presented on Friday nights in conjunction with the Portland Art Museums Seeing Nature exhibition through Jan. 8. Itll be screened at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 S.W. Park Ave. ($9, $8 students/seniors, $6 children, www.nwfilm.org).
One Crazy Raven
Well, this could be an interesting show: Its the 2015 Tellabration One Crazy Raven Gene Tagaban, sponsored by the Portland Storytelling Guild. Through song, story, dance, movement and transformation, Tagaban shares traditional Native American stories from his own experience, family and history. He previously appeared with the Dalai Lama at the Seeds of Compassion gathering in Seattle and the Nature Conservancys 50th anniversary with Jane Goodall.
