One-day event showcases seasonal bounty; Truffle Festival tickets on sale
Truffle mac and cheese, ice cream and beer?
Yes, it's true Oregon truffles, some of the region's most decadent bounty, will be on full display at Pine Street Market next Tuesday, Sept. 20 as three top local artisans collaborate to produce their decadent limited-time creations.
Olympia Provisions OP Wurst will serve an Oregon truffle mac & cheese dog.
Salt & Straws Wiz Bang Bar will serve an Oregon black truffle white chocolate shell to adorn their soft serve ice cream flavors.
And Marukin Ramen will serve glasses of Wolves & People Farmhouse Brewerys La Truffe, an Oregon truffle hazelnut stout a beer made last winter in collaboration with the Oregon Truffle Festival. It's the first time it'll be released on tap.
All the truffle fun is designed to stir up excitement for the 12th annual Oregon Truffle Festival, set for January 20 and January 29, 2017 in Eugene, McMinnville and Newberg.
Tickets are on sale now for various events at the festival, which include tastings of truffles prepared by big-name chefs like Seattles Renee Erickson, San Franciscos Chris Cosentino and Portlands Greg and Gabi Denton of Ox.
There will also be truffle hunts in the wild, a seminar on Oregon truffles, a sensory tour of truffles with Mark Bitterman, and a panel discussion on Oregon truffles moderated by Peter Meehan, editorial director of Lucky Peach.
New a la carte events for this year include the Oregon Truffle MacDown in Eugene, and the Black & White Dinner series in McMinnville.
