Lauren B, aka Lauren Bushnell of West Linn, received a rose from Ben Higgins during the sixth show of The Bachelor on Monday, but not before some drama led her to tears. (With the rose, Lauren B stays alive in the romance reality show, 8 p.m. Mondays on ABC).
Lauren B was involved in a group date to an uninhabitated island in the Bahamas that has swimming pigs. Apparently other women got jealous that Ben was obsessing over Lauren B. Another woman, Leah, bad-mounted Lauren B to Ben, who confronted Lauren B about maybe not being the right woman for him. Lauren B cried, and then didnt receive a rose during the group date.
Ben sent Leah packing for the bad-mouthing, saving Lauren B in the end.
Quidditch
The Portland Augureys, the local quidditch team (playing the sport from Harry Potter fame, as featured in the Feb. 4 Tribune), competed in the regional championships last weekend in Salem. They didnt make US Quidditch nationals those three teams would be Boise State Abraxans, the Rain City Raptors from Washington, and the University of British Columbia but they played well in a tournament shortened because of bad weather and field conditions.
The Boss is coming
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will play at the Moda Center, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. Springsteens The River Tour will extend its U.S. run with 14 new shows. During each stop on the North American leg, Springsteen and the E Street Band give an in-sequence performance of the 20 songs from 1980s The River album.
New Magenta
Its across the Columbia River, but its news anytime somebody makes theater better. Magenta Theater will be putting on its first play, The Women, in its new home, Feb. 12 through 27.
The Clare Boothe Luce story is about 31 women in 42 roles in a play written in 1936 by a woman whose publishing tycoon husband refused to give her a staff position on Life magazine, which she had conceived and named.

New Conduit
Conduit Dance is hosting a re-launch and community gathering, 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, giving an official welcome to the companys new studio at the Ford Building, 2505 S.E. 11th Ave., No. 120.
SubRosa Dance Collective held the first performance at the new space with a well-received Fertile Ground Festival premiere, aptly titled
Displaced.
