• We’ll have more on Thursday on the 39th annual Portland International Film Festival, Feb. 11-27, which starts with an opening-night film (Klaus Haro’s “The Fencer”) at the Whitsell Auditorium, 1219 S.W. Park Ave. (7:30 p.m.), and Fox Tower, 846 S.W. Park Ave. (7:15 p.m.), as well as the opening-night party ($25, nwfilm.org). • Another reminder for Black History Month: The Hollywood Theatre, 4122 N.E. Sandy Blvd., hosts the Portland Black Film Festival, Feb. 10-27. There’ll be seven programs, showcasing the achievements of African-American stars and filmmakers along with films about the black experience in America.The lineup: “Buck and the Preacher” (1972), Feb. 10; “Santa Fe Satan (Catch My Soul)” (1974), Feb. 13; “Penitentiary” (1979), Feb. 17; “A Ballerina’s Tale” (2015), Feb. 18; “Spirits of the Rebellion,” Feb. 20; “Rap City,” Feb. 24; “Black Caesar” (1973), Feb. 27 (Fred Williamson, who stars, makes an appearance).

• Also in celebration of Black History Month, the Cascade Festival of African Films continues through March 5 at the Hollywood Theatre, 4122 N.E.
