Keene sense of melody
If you dig power pop, then you cant do much better than to check out Tommy Keene, whos held the power pop torch lit since 1982, combining sometimes crunchy, sometimes jangly guitars, lovely melodic solos and a voice that never seems to age in album after album of tres cool rock n roll, 11 and counting. The fact hes not even bigger than he is is both an indictment of our ears and an invitation to you to join a truly blessed underground. Look at it this way its not like Big Star sold that many records either, so hes in good company. Speaking of records, take a listen to Laugh in the Dark, his latest, a satisfying collection of straight ahead pop and rock that will clear your head, warm your heart and make you wish you hadnt given up hope quite yet.
