‘Alice in Wonderland’

‘Forever’

Writer and performer Dael Orlandersmith’s powerful memoir play comes to Portland Center Stage for the first time. The story: Having visited the Pere Lachaise Cemetery, where strangers make pilgramages to the graves of artists Frederick Chopin, Marcel Proust, Richard Wright, Edith Piaf and Jim Morrison, Orlandersmith is moved to investigate the complex legacy received from her mother. Previews start Jan. 30.

‘You For Me For You’

‘A Mortal Song’

The art installation, sculpture, works on paper and sounds uses traditional folklore from Norway and America as departure points to explore symbol systems developed by Norwegian artist Tori Wranes and Portland artist Caley Feeney to produce contemporary folk-art languages that draw from pop culture — Internet memes, dreams, noise and plastics technologies.
