Big grant

The Portland Children’s Museum, currently presenting the Blue Man Group “Making Waves” exhibit through Jan. 10, has received a $70,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation as part of its Studio to School initiative.

The grant goes to organizations in which experienced teacher-artists work with educators to increase arts integration into classrooms and after-school activities, including for underserved youth. The museum has been working with Woodlawn School’s PK-8 and is the only one in the nation that integrates a tuition-based preschool, public K-5 charter school (Opal School), and a research center (the Museum Center for Learning).

The museum, at 4015 S.W. Canyon Road, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
