Police say 17 year old shot in the back at family's home
Police are investigating the alleged homicide of a 17-year-old male who they say was shot and killed by his mother on Thursday, Sept. 24 .
The mother, Dianne M. Davidoff, 42, is being charged with murder of her son, Jacob Ryan Davidoff, and unlawful use of a weapon. She is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
Gresham Officer Malaka Kerbs said the son was shot in the back at the family's home in the 2800 block of Rosefinch Drive. Officers tried to perform CPR on the teen when they arrived at the house at 7:34 p.m. Thursday, but their efforts were not successful.
Kerbs said he did not know how many shots were fired and said detectives are still collecting evidence.
Athena Vadnais, community relations director at the Gresham-Barlow School District, said the teen was a student at the Metro East Web Academy in the 2013-14 school year. The online public charter school is headquartered at 1391 N.W. Civic Drive.
There is no record of him attending the academy or any other district school last year or this year. He should have been in 11th grade, Vadnais said.
Multnomah County court records show the family's home went into foreclosure in September 2012. In February 2014, the sale of the home was canceled, and in November Wells Fargo asked the sheriff's office to take control of the house. The occupants did not vacate the home, court records showed, and another notice was sent in August asking them to vacate.
The family appeared to be in the process of moving.
Dianne Davidoff is scheduled to be arraigned at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Multnomah County Circuit Court in downtown Portland.
Vadnais said district schools have not sent a notice to parents about Davidoff's death, pending the police investigation.
