Vancouver Wine & Jazz Festival

The 18th annual event in Vancouver, Wash., features wine, food and music — The Manhattan Transfer, trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, band leader and percussionist Poncho Sanchez, pianist/composer Billy Childs, and the Pacific Mambo Orchestra, as well as local and regional bands.

Sunday Parkways

The popular walk and ride day features a special attraction this weekend: Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, which puts on a show at Moda Center in September, will host a booth along the route of the Southeast Portland path that goes through Laurelhurst, Colonel Summers, Sewallcrest and Ivon parks, a seven-mile trek from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23. Collector Car & Classic Boat Show

The Lake Oswego Heritage Council puts on a show, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, with more than 300 collector cars and 40 classic boats at George Rogers Park, Lakewood Bay and Foothills Park. It’s free. For more: www.oswegoheritage.org.

National Model Train Show

Heads up: Portland is playing host to the annual show and trade exposition, showcasing model railroading and all the newest and unique products and services from manufacturers and retailers. There’ll be model trains, accessories, collectibles, elaborate displays and more.

Portland Citywide Theatresports

The Brody Theater is the exclusive venue for the improvisation tournament. Two teams compete in theatrical challenges. It all starts at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at the Brody Theater, 16 N.W. Broadway ($12, www.brodytheater.com). The finals and championship take place in September.
