Promoters are letting us know about the Aug. 15 release of “Music Soothes the Soul” by Portland-area author Matthew Bernstein. Bernstein is donating all of his proceeds from book sales to the Fender Music Foundation to keep

music programs healthy and vibrant.

The book features stories from 70 musicians, scientists and entrepreneurs who show how music can positively affect lives, with stories of Gene Simmons, Chaka Khan, Dave Wakeling, Riker Lynch and more.

The kicker: Bernstein is 17; yes, 17 and he’s interviewed people from around the world. Bernstein has worked for the online Oregon Music News since he was 13.
